Ronald G. Dougherty

Ronald G. Dougherty Sr., of Arvada, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, shortly after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Carole Dougherty, of 54 years; two daughters, Lynn Brofsky (Chris Fusare), of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Melissa Nethery (Sean Nethery), of Aurora; two sons, Ron Dougherty Jr, and Chris Dougherty (Vickie), both of Arvada; and four grandchildren, Nichole Rossetter (Forest Shade Rossetter), Adam Dougherty, Isabel Brofsky and Elinor Nethery.

Ron was born June 23, 1933, in Indianapolis, Ind., to parents Marion and Jane Dougherty, and had one sister, Marilyn Thompson. Ron went to the University of Cincinnati where he received a bachelor of arts degree in architecture.

Ron and Carole met in Cincinnati and married in the home of Dewy and Hazel McKnight, Carole's parents, in Partridge, Ky., in 1958. They resided in Cincinnati while Ron finished his degree, then moved to Colorado in the early 1960s where they stayed and raised their family.

Ron started his architectural practice when he was 32 and worked until he died designing for commercial, office, retail, religious and multifamily developments. His religious-structure designs embody his most significant projects, including the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Aurora, St. Mark Catholic Church in Westminster, Notre Dame Catholic Church in Denver, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Northglenn.

Ron contributed much to his community. As an involved father, he was a Boy Scout troop leader, and in his business life he was a member of the Adams County Board of Appeals, the Jefferson County 1-76/Clear Creek investigative group and the Jefferson County Grand Jury.

He was greatly loved and will be missed.

Funeral service was March 23 at Aspen Mortuary Chapel, and Ron was buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

Jean R. Cooper

Died: Friday, April 06, 2012
Jean R. Cooper, of Lakewood. She was 85.

After raising her family, she worked for Card Corp and AMC Cancer Research Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray.

She is survived by daughters India (Fred Burrell) Cooper and Nancy Cooper; son Walter Cooper; and granddaughter Lindsay.

Per her request, no service was held but her ashes will be interred in Jackson, Miss., beside her husband, Ray, and infant son, John.

Memorial contributions may be made to a food bank of choice.

Ernest A. Dardano

Died: Friday, April 06, 2012
Ernest A. Dardano, of Lakewood, died Thursday, March 8, 2012. He was 86.

He was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Denver.

He is survived by his wife, Velma; children Sherrill Garramone and Dennis Dardano; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial service was March 19 at Horan and McConaty Funeral Service in Arvada.

Louis Perko

Age: 63
Louis C. Perko, of Arvada, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012. He was 63.

Survived by his father Rudy; brothers Mark (Maureen), Mike (Mary), and Doug (Jan); sister Sandy; nephew Ben; and nieces Meagan, Erin, Breanna, Halie and Teddie.

Preceded in death by his mother Maxine and nephew Nick.

At his request there were no services.

Paul DeWayne Flickner Jr.

Age: 52
Paul DeWayne Flickner, Jr., of Arvada, died Sunday, March 4, 2012. He was 52.

He is survived by his sons Joshua and Jason Flickner; mother Dorothy Flickner and four sisters Kathy, Diane, Barbie and Ginny.

Memorial service was March 22 at Foothills Chapel in Golden.

Memorial contributions may be made to local little league baseball.

Robert D. Irwin

Robert D. “Bob” Irwin, 78, of Castle Rock, Colorado died Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Denver’s Porter Hospice.

Bob was born and raised in Fairview, Kan., the youngest of three children of Kathryn and Clarence. After spending a few years in Urbana, Ill., he settled in the Denver area where he has lived since 1960.

In high school, Bob enjoyed track, football and trumpet. He served as one of the original instructors of the U.S. Air Force Academy before being stationed in Japan. His professional career included credit, insurance and real estate. Robert volunteered as a leader in many service organizations, including Junior Chamber of Commerce, supervisor of Punt, Pass and Kick, treasurer and co-founder of Arvada Community Resource Association, and snowmobile safety instructor. After retirement, he became known as “Ranger Bob,” a fly-fishing instructor at the Arvada Reservoir.

Bob is survived by his son and daughter, five grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.

The first of two memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Castle Rock. A graveside service will be held at Isley Cemetery, near Fairview, on Saturday, April 28.

Richard William Scott

Died: Monday, March 26, 2012
Richard (Dick) William Scott, formerly of Arvada,died Monday, March 26, 2012, from complications of pneumonia.

He was born March 5, 1938.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mona; two sons, Nathan and Jared Scott; two daughters, Linda (Dan) Pelon and Laura (Randy) Syverson; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Aaron, James, Nicole, Mirandah, Briana and Faith.

He was a successful start-up business owner known as “The Stamp Dude.” He loved the Lord with all his heart and is known for always having a smile on his face wherever he went. He will be missed.

Margaret Anne Allison

Margaret Anne Allison, of Lakewood, died Monday, March 26, 2012.

She was born June 7, 1930.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Frank S. Allison; four children; five grandchildren; and many family and friends.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at Olinger Crown Hill Pavilion at 29th and Wadsworth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Denver Hospice, 501 S. Cherry St. Suite 700, Denver CO 80246.

James William Burdett

Age: 84
James William Burdett, of Lakewood, died Monday, March 26, 2012. He was 84.

Born April 28, 1927, in Atlanta, Ga.

He is survived by his wife, Esther Burdett; sons David (Cathleen) and James (Susan); daughter Aleisa (Curt) Burdette Carlson; grandchildren Brooke (Benjamin) Burdett, Byron Burdett, Nathan Carlson and Melanie Carlson.

Memorial service was April 2 at Foothills Bible Church, Littleton, with burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
